My Dog......

My dog, like my Wife,

The most important things in my life,

My Saturday drink, my child's smile,

Make me happy by a country mile,

It's just a feeling, but it fills my heart,

And helps the happiness of my small world start,

They both matter with such intensity,

They both raise my spirits with increasing frequency,

They lift my spirits higher than I thought possible,

They take me to another plain,

And yet, they are so near, not far,

I can touch both, without running or using my car,

They are just next to me, closer than you'd ever think,

Like all the best things, right beside you,

But never seen, their love unwavering,

Their eyes, holding my gaze,

My dog wants a biscuit, my wife.........

She never says.
