Heads up and Smile
As days go by, it seems to me, that having faith
In my fellow man, is a misplaced trust,
This land that once was made from Hearts of Oak,
Has become a land covered with decay and rust,
Most people now don't look out for others,
All they do from day to day is watch their own back,
Sadly this is a trait which now denotes both Fathers and Mothers,
As this country inexorably slips down the wrong track,
Well actually, that may be changing, and the change is happening fast,
This plague which has blighted our world of late,
Has been like an antiseptic, destroying the bad from the past,
We are suddenly becoming a new society, rewriting our fate?
We can but hope and pray, we can but watch and wait,
Watching a new wave of optimistic resolve and strength,
Changing our country with such a power of late,
That I am suddenly filled with a new feeling, so intense.
It's pride I feel, and that's come as a shock, pride in us all,
We haven't given up, or run away, we have faced up to our foe,
We have done the things that once we didn't think we could,
We've worked our hardest, we've isolated and now It begins to slow,
Well done you, pat yourself on the back, you're a winner,
And you have helped me and all the rest,
We thank you that you did as you were told, isolation,
We may not be at the end of the road, but our country has nearly passed the test,
Heads up and smile, you deserve it.
