Are we there yet

Are we there yet?
 

So many months have past, the road long, the cost, vast,

We have all done our bit, kept distant, some singing, some keeping fit,

But we have tried our hardest to rid our country of this later day plague,

And now relaxation begin to open up our world again,

But is it too soon, are we going to fast, we need the progress gained to last,

We can't afford to go backwards risking progress purely for haste, a waste,

So are we really there yet, the traffic outside seems to be busier,

People on the TV are confident, but are they really sure, now is the right time,

To let down the defences, losing our senses, open up schools, shops, factories,

We have come so far to risk it all, to be swayed by businesses and Football,

To be pushed down the wrong road, to put it all at risk,

Our people have so much to lose, after working so hard, we answered the call,

Please think hard before you act, take advice, don't just make nice,

To appease louder voices than mine, make sure your not just singing a line,

From the highest bidders, those who worry about themselves, to fill their shelves,

Remember the thousands who, daily help this country and it's people,

The Doctors the Nurses, the Carers the Firemen, Police and all who have risked,

Their lives to get us to this place, so we can ask, Are we there yet?
