A wonderful man

One death amongst millions may not be seen as sad,

A life of service , love and loving, giving more than taking,

A man whose years had made him frail, easy prey to the virus,

Taken in the worst way, a family left sad and grieving,

One man, who shone like a beacon, impressing all,

The help he raised, unfathomable for those left reeling,

Walking your miles to raise spirits and hopes,

And to go now such a crime, it leaves me with an empty feeling,

Are there anymore of this man's type, or was he one of the last,

Those who lived their lives by a different code, from a different time,

He became a national hero, one who will stand with giants of the past,

A wonderful Centenarian, who truly marched on and walked the line.

As this horrible virus keeps taking the lives of family and friends,

We will, I am sure , reflect on those who have passed, and shed a tear,

For me it will be a lasting memory of the bitterness, and pain,

That will keep us mourning, remembering this most horrific year.

Sad to say, 'the Sun won't shine on you again', but for us who remain, it will,

And also for your family, bereft now, their hearts still full of pride,

They will be able to look back at your wonderful life,

I salute you for your selfless life, we should all feel bereaved, a loss inside.
